Artist-run initiative |elders believes in personal, nuanced statements on the world, as a counterpart for generalization. We aim for intimacy in our presentations and a slowing down of time around the artwork in order to meet the work and discuss it. To observe without claiming a truth, to encircle artworks and become enchanted.
Time taken
At Art Athina |elders will present ‘Time taken’, an installation with work of two Dutch artists in a ‘time bound’ booth set up.
Time around the artwork becomes ‘visible’ and ‘audible’, visitors can literally take time: A piece of paper is inserted, mechanical machine sounds, the visitor is registered, time is taken.
Platforms Project 2015
The objective of the project is to map artistic action as it is produced in the context of collective initiatives by artists who decide to join forces in seeking answers to artistic questions by creating the so-called platforms.
The project will help promote the various artists’ groups, collectives, platforms and independent art spaces of a non-commercial (non-profit) orientation which operate in unconventional ways, in Greece as well as abroad, managing to establish unexpected debates on art.
Based on the “unity is strength” principle, the platforms have secured their own place on the international art arena without antagonizing the environment they are called upon to serve.
